The drama and questions surrounding Prince’s death are far from over.
Almost two years to the date, the investigation has closed with no charges being filed.
Unsatisfied with this verdict, Prince’s family has decided not to let it stop there.
They recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit against UnityPoint Health. The family feels that a doctor and pharmacist at the facility didn’t thoroughly investigate and treat Prince’s opioid overdose in 2016.
You may remember that in April of that year, Prince’s private plane had to make an emergency landing due to an overdose episode.
Emergency responders were able to revive Prince with the drug Narcan. He was then taken to the hospital for additional treatment, but according to the family, more should have been done.
The family’s attorneys have stated:
“We will have much to say when the time is right. We have client interests to protect at the moment, including our theory of the case. What happened to Prince is happening to families across America. Prince’s family wishes, through its investigation, to shed additional light on what happened to Prince. At the same time further light on the opiate epidemic will hopefully help the fight to save lives.”
They went onto say:
“If Prince’s death helps save lives, then all was not lost.”
